At Impact Steel we know the ever-changing demands and requirements for Galvanised Steel.  We know that customers across industries have different uses for Galvanised Steel and ensure that we provide steel products that meet their needs.

We strive to constantly improve on our current industry processes and practices, in order to ensure that we always provide steel at the highest possible quality.

About Galvanised Steel

When steel is hot-dipped in a zinc coating solution, it becomes galvanised. This coating protects the steel from particle corrosion and general surface scratches and abrasions.  It is ideal for marine applications as the surfacing is salt resistant and also combats other weather conditions.

Galvanised Steel is appropriate for construction environments of up to 200 degrees celsius. The extent to which a sheet is galvanised is measured by the ‘weight per surface area’ of the zinc. In relation to workability, the list of capabilities for galvanised steel is extensive. The steel sheet can be punched (pierced), sheared, pressed, welded, drawn upon and bent into manipulation according to the project requirements.

The Benefits of Galvanised Steel

It has been proven to be extremely reliable in both coastal and city locations due to its resistance towards both natural and chemical corrosion. Galvanised Steel products are also recyclable.

In both today’s industry and urban environments, there is an increase in examination of lifespan or life-cycle costs. In terms of sustainability, Galvanised Steel materials provide unmatchable benefits in the construction of mass infrastructure.

The lifespan of the steel is ultimately influenced by factors associated with its environment. It is especially sustainable within the following conditions:

  • Underwater environments, where water temperatures constantly vary
  • Seawater or other coastal/marine environments
  • Underground, soil-based environments
  • Placements or fixtures where chemical contact is inevitable
  • Placements where timber preservatives/other building material contact is inevitable.

The versatility of Galvanised Steel provides for a dynamic range of world-wide applications.
