In addition to regular Hot Rolled Steel products, we supply coil and sheet steel in a conditioned form referred to as ‘Hot Rolled, Pickled and Oiled’.
At Impact Steel, we strive to meet the requirements of each customer. We know that different steel products are required for the wide variety of applications of Hot Rolled, Pickled and Oiled steel, and proper selection of the steel grade and production processing practices are imperative. We can ensure you get the right steel products to adequately fulfil your requirements.
General exposure to oxygen in the air creates oxide layers (or scales), on the surface of the steel. The steel is dipped into tanks of hydrochloric acid, causing a complex reaction that almost removes this scaling entirely.
Prior to treatment, any surface particles such as dirt, dust, oil, rust, paint, tape or any other residues or substances require removal by alkaline, or other alternate cleaning methods. The primary advantage or purpose of the pickling and oiling conditioning is to reinforce the steel’s protective properties, in particular, rust.
When metal is pickled, contaminants and other unwanted elements are removed. These include but are not limited to impurities such as stains and rust. An acidic solution is used to treat the metal, in order to make the steel’s surface free from these impurities. More commonly known in the industry, the ‘dip’ or acid solution is referred to as pickle liquor.
Hot Rolled Pickled And Oiled steel is especially useful for cutting, and punching (piercing).
Hot Rolled Pickled And Oiled steel is used for a wide range of applications, from simple bends to complex draws or structural applications that require a specific strength level. Another advantage of pickling is that it helps mitigate any pre-treatment process.
Hot Rolled, Pickled and Oiled steel is used for a variety of purposes. Impact Steel supplies Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled steel products with remarkable workability, suiting projects that require a more functional presentation structure. Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled steel is ideal for welding finishes and reinforcements.
