Polyethylene coating (or PE coating) is a low-cost plastic that acts as a protective layer.
We also supply the coated sheet steel to the building industry for constructional purposes.
Our PEC Application processes deliver a high-performance coating for a variety of uses and has an extensive life expectancy depending on the application.
The polyethylene coating machine applies a protective film to the sheet. This coating has exceptional benefits, enhancing the protection of the surface.
The adhesion results in either a clear or black presentation. The clear film appears white in colour. All coatings provide relatively good water, heat and low temperature resistance.
Our PEC applicator is capable applying coating to a sheet thickness range of 0.50mm – 3.00mm.
Five standard widths are used, including: 900mm, 915mm, 1200mm, 1220mm and 1500mm.
PEC 80 micron – white with black backing.
PEC 50 micron – clear.
Our polyethylene coating reinforces the steel sheet by providing it with an increased impact strength and level of ductility. It is strengthened in terms of impact toughness rather than physical rigidness. The coating enables the steel to be exposed to, and absorb force from certain applications. It presents strong creep when under mass impacts of repeated force. The PE layer is also corrosion resistant due to its extremely durable nature. Its added thickness stops surface abrasions and markings from appearing during handling, transportation and application.
One of the main advantages is its resistance to chemical wear and its bendability. This makes it ideal for applications where the article is exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Handling PE coated steel is extremely safe. It ensures there are no sharp edges or any other jagged exposures having the potential to cause harm. It is also non-magnetic, ideal for special applications.
Structures that are layered in polyethylene are more resistant to corrosion. Humid and outdoor environments are ideal for PE coated steel whereas other materials are likely to fail. On that note, the sun’s UV rays will not ‘break down’ or compromise the steel’s integrity in any way either. Articles applied in these sorts of environments will have no problem sustaining an ultra-long life span. Always remember to take regular weather conditions and elements into consideration when selecting steel for your projects.
PE coated steel can be used in environments where regular cleaning of the surface is required. The smooth surface proves to be a genuine advantage to a potentially less even steel surface of other materials.
